“Walk & talk therapy” brings conventional individual therapy sessions off the couch and into the outdoors. While the primary goal is not weight loss or improved fitness, walking during therapy sessions can have the added benefit of physical activity.

It is also beneficial for people who have difficulty talking openly about their emotions. Walking side-by-side outdoors can feel less intense than making eye contact in an office setting. Furthermore, some people find that moving facilitates more open expression and deeper ways of thinking.
