Julia Heavner, Psy.D., sees individuals and couples for therapy. She is passionate about helping clients to build lives that feel full of peace, happiness, and interpersonal connection. Julia considers cultural and individual identity factors as she works to establish a collaborative therapeutic environment in which each client feel safe, empowered, and heard.
Clients served
Julia’s expertise includes helping clients with:
- romantic relationship concerns
- religious/spiritual identity issues
- ADHD/executive functioning challenges
- deficits in interpersonal communication
- feelings of isolation or loneliness
In her work with couples, Julia uses Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) and the Gottman Method (Level II Trained). When seeing individuals, she draws from training in psychodynamic theory, DBT, and relational approaches.
Education
Julia completed her doctoral work at Loyola University of Maryland and her internship at University of Maryland, Baltimore County’s Counseling Center. Previously, she worked at the counseling centers at of the United States Naval Academy and Notre Dame University of Maryland, as well as in community mental health and private practice settings.
Availability
Julia offers telehealth appointments and a small number of in-person sessions.
In person sessions are held at an office location on Allegheny Avenue, which is conveniently and centrally located in Baltimore County, Maryland and close to downtown Towson.
Fees
Intake Session (1.5 hours): $270
Follow-up Sessions (1 hour): $180
Intensive Couples Sessions (1.5 hours): $270
